So here's my PLAY! FT Island Concert experience - a review plus some fangirling at the side, haha.

The boys of FT Island arrived in Singapore in the wee hours of the morning on 15th January and headed down to The Max Pavilion after a few hours of rest at the Ritz Carlton.

Even though they had a concert in Kuala Lumpur just the night before, the boys showed no sign of fatigue. In fact, Lee Hong Ki (lead vocals) who was down with a flu, Choi Jong Hoon (lead guitar), Lee Jae Jin (bassist), Song Seung Hyun (guitar), and Choi Min Hwan (drums) showed much enthusiasm and energy on stage, definitely not disappointing the fans who have been waiting for their solo concert for four years.

The banner sign thing fell when there was a storm at like 4am. I almost died hahaha fyi the blue checkered mat was where I was sitting.

But the weather was really nice during the afternoon.

Practically my only source of entertainment - apart from the new friends I made of course.

And after queuing up for some 16 hours (and crazy weather), I finally got to get my first look of the stage.
Compared to many other K-Pop concerts, this one was not as elaborate. The stage setup was simple and there were no fancy props. Simple pyrotechnics, transitions in the form of video footages, and good music were enough to satisfy the fans. An extended stage was included for the members to interact more with their fans.

Clad in comfortable clothing and leather jackets, all five members exuded a rock-star feel representing their unique genre of music. Contrary to most mainstream K-Pop groups, they were comfortable in their own skin and simply sang and played their hearts out – not forgetting their attempts in communicating with the fans in their obviously rehearsed (but really cute) English, where Hong Ki proclaimed his love for band mate Jae Jin, and also for the Singaporean fans. He even shouted a profanity at one point of the concert, “Singapore, you are fucking cool!”

Hongki's pants were quite ugly btw.

They chose one of their greatest hit songs, I Hope, to start off the concert. Following that, they hyped up the crowd even more with other hits like Love Love Love and Hello Hello.

Bringing up the atmosphere were their J-Rock tunes, like Let It Go and their debut Japanese song, Flower Rock, which surely left the many Japanese fans in the audience craving for more.

They then took it a little slower with their trademark ballads. While Hong Ki's husky voice complemented the mood of the songs and he hit all the high notes perfectly, the rest of the members also showcased their vocal improvement through I Confess, a ballad written by leader Jong Hoon. Min Hwan especially awed everyone when he challenged and managed to pull off the most difficult part of the song. I could not help but tear at this part - I don't know why - but I just felt so proud! Sigh maknae's all grown up, and his vocals have definitely matured along with him. And I was sobbing quite uncontrollably by the time it came to the next song, Even Your Tears. It was quite funny though because I was singing along to the song which consisted of lyrics like 'don't cry, I love you' while tears streamed down my face bleahhhh.

It was after the ballad segment which showed Hong Ki's voice faltering a little. He deliberately brought down most of the high notes to a lower pitch which took the thrill out a little – not that it deterred any of the audience which mostly consisted of teens to continue rocking out to the tunes.

Fans knew that the 2-hour concert was coming to an end when the introductory guitar riff of Primadonna (also the name of FT Island fans) was played.
After shouts of ‘encore’ from the 3000-odd audience, the boys came out to perform their last three songs. The concert ended on a high note with Like a Bird. The audience was certainly transported to another island (though not literally). At least, I was - on an island with just me and FT Island playing for me, LOL.

It could have been a perfect experience for the fans if not for the less than desirable sound system, which resulted in extremely low volumes in vocals at times. There was also poor crowd control when fans rushed to the free standing pit causing some of them to fall.

Nevertheless, performance-wise, FT Island did an amazing job and their showmanship proved to us why they are one of the top Rock groups in the Korean music scene.

The next day, the boys had an autograph session at City Square Mall where 500 lucky fans got to get up close and personal with them. One of the fans even wore a wedding gown, catching the eye of the members (and everybody else). They were all smiles and waved occasionally at the crowds.

Stef, Jiaqi and myself failed to be part of the 500 lucky ones and so we went to find a good spot to shoot photos.

After the session we went to Manna Restaurant with some newly made friends which we reckoned they were going to have dinner at. Thankfully we were right.

They were in this room LOL.

And uhm, Hongki's shoes... Haha.

After eating we just stood near the doors of the private room that they were in and omg one of the staff opened the door and I saw Hongki (the angle allowed Stef and I to be the only ones to be able to look inside) so I waved at him. And he waved back.

HE WAVED BACK.

Hahaha I was dying but I had to control myself. And when they walked out of the room to get to their van they were frigging less than a metre away from me. Sigh they are all so handsome really. And Minhwan... Let's just say he made me fall in love with him all over again ❤

It has been almost 2 weeks since my encounter with them but everything's still deeply etched in my mind. And I'll cherish this for a really long time...till my next concert LOL. And that will probably be The Cab's gig on 10th March.

My Top 25 Favourite K-Pop Songs 2011

As the title suggests, this post is going to be about my favourite K-Pop songs of 2011! I was going to stop at 10 but I realised I liked too many. Hahaha. So, in no particular order, here it goes...

1. AA - So Crazy

Definitely one of the best debut songs I have heard so far! The piano intro in front really got me and I really like the raps! The members definitely have good vocals as seen from their live performances. The only thing that I don't like about this song is the choreography. The body waves are so weird and this song definitely deserves a better dance. I'm looking forward to their next comeback in February, I hope they don't change their style!

2. MYNAME - Message

I'd be the first to admit that the lyrics and the meaning of the song are kind of noobish and all, but hey, the tune's really catchy. And I really like the b-boy dancing in the music video. It is just a shame that the only b-boying they do in live performances are Seyong's handstand and backflip. My favourite part of the song is the rap haha JunQ's so cute.
P.S. The 'you got a messaji' part is my current message ringtone. Don't judge!

3. Block B - Freeze

Having roots in Hip Hop, Block B is definitely one group to watch out for. I really like the edge to this song and it stands out from the cute and happy songs that most companies choose as the debut single for groups. Love the stage presence, love the attitude, love the song. And I personally Cho PD did a great job in choosing people for the group - the three rappers have such different voices and it is so easy to tell them apart. I really have high expectations of them!

4. B1A4 - Only Learned Bad Things

I have been noticing B1A4 ever since their cartoon teaser pictures were released because it was really...special. Their debut song, O.K. really got me hooked but it was not until I heard this song that I became a BANA(na). I love the meaning of the song, love the beat, and I love it that Baro is the main character in the music video. The members are starting to compose their own songs and it can be seen from their 2nd mini album, it B1A4. I hope their next work will be more like their first mini album though because there are more genres and it also shows their versatility in tackling different genres.

5. MBLAQ - I Don't Know

No music video for this song but it is my favourite track from their Mona Lisa mini album. It has this quirky feel to it and G.O.'s falsettos never fail to get me. The live performances are really enjoyable as well because just look like they are having lots of fun. Oh by the way I love Cheondung in blonde hair *_*

6. X-5 -Don't Put On An Act

Having an average height of 185cm, these boys really stand out (literally) from other rookie groups. This debut song really attracted me and I really liked it from the first time I heard it. And I liked them even more after seeing them perform it live. Their comeback 'Dangerous' really disappointed me though. It sounds quite bleah and their first performance of the song was a big flop for me. But well I do give them credit for being able dance quite nicely considering their height because most tall people tend to look a little awkward while dancing.

7. U-Kiss - Neverland

I only really started taking notice of U-Kiss when 0330 was released because well, it has a nice piano melody and nice orchestration at the back and I thought it was a brilliant song (until I got sick of it because of the constant replaying). Neverland was released after that and I loved it! A really different image from 0330 but honestly guyliner and songs in a minor key really attract me in K-Pop. Haha I don't even know why. The dance is really nice too and it matches the song really well. I still refuse to call myself a Kiss-Me though...what a stupid-sounding fandom name hahaha.

8. DBSK - How Can I

My favourite song from HoMin's Keep Your Head Down album which was released after the whole DBSK and SM fiasco. Changmin's and Yunho's voices blend really well during live performances of this song and hearing it during the fanmeet last year made me fall in love with the song even more.

9. Miss A - Goodbye Baby

Hands down one of the best music videos in 2011. I love how this comeback had a totally different style to past singles like Breathe and Bad Girl Good Girl. It is by far, to me, the best Miss A song that has been produced and performed. Great concept, great choreography, great song, great year for Miss A.
P.S. The fact that JYP has to mention himself in all his productions still annoys me lol.

10. BEAST - Fiction

Yet another breakthrough for another group, Fiction has established itself as one of the most memorable and best songs of 2011 - from the vocals needed to conquer this song, to the really-hard-to-master penguin dance. This album was also the album that we saw really obvious vocal improvement from Dongwoon, and it was also a great album in all. The songs flow very well and it is one of those K-Pop albums which I can listen to over and over again.

11. BEAST - On Rainy Days

Also from the 'Fiction & Fact' album, here's my favourite track of BEAST this year! This is my favourite performance of this song from them, guess why? (here's a hint: skip to 2:30) The things I love most about this song are the tune, meaning of the lyrics, the ad-libs, the cough just before Junhyung's rap, Dongwoon's part..basically everything. Hahaha.

12. Brown Eyed Girls - Sixth Sense

I tend to prefer songs with attitude when it comes to upbeat female songs, and this song - it's just overflowing with that. The music video is full of symbolism - from the art on the walls, Miryo being chained up with mics in front of her (meaning that she is being controlled to say stuff), etc. BEG are portrayed as fierce and confident women here and it is hella sexy, unlike some other artist *cough* who has a solo release with a different kind of 'pop' *cough* if you know what I mean. And of course, when you think of Sixth Sense, you can't forget the three high notes by Jea, Ga-in and Narsha. Crazehhhh!

13. JS & Hyuna - Trouble Maker

One of the most controversial songs and music videos, and also one of the most anticipate comebacks (following the hot kiss during MAMA) of 2011, is this sexy dance number by Hyunseung and Hyuna. I personally like the whole concept of this song - it's different from other K-Pop songs, and it's well, daring. Hyunseung is really suited for concepts like these and he somehow has this groove for songs like this. I still think that Hyuna doesn't have that kind of mature sexiness for this song but it's not her fault since she's so young. But in any case I still love the song and I like the performances a lot.

14. 2NE1 - I Am the Best

When it comes to being badass, not many can hold a candle to 2NE1. I Am The Best is a very empowering song and the music video just shows all sorts of badass from the four girls. Also a song that a DJ should spin during K-Pop clubbing events, this song is excellent at bringing up the atmosphere. I remember screaming my lungs out when they performed this at last year's Korean Music Wave - fanchants, the 'bombaratata's, everything. This is the K-Pop cult's anthem!

15. 2NE1 - Ugly

Also from 2NE1, here's my favourite song from them! The lyrics are full of meaning and I think that it is an excellent song to jam to. The music video doesn't full make sense to me - it's very badass for a song which portrays low self-esteem but I guess that's 2NE1's style. By the way I love all their tops in the music video. And one day I'm going to play with glow-in-the-dark paint too.

16. FT Island - I Confess

My favourite track from their 'Return' mini album. Written by leader Jonghun for Primadonnas, the meaning of the song is so sweet and...it's a perfect confession song. Heh. All the members sing inside as well, which is a bonus. The tune's really sweet too. And the song means a lot to me. So, yeah. I love this song. Gonna hear it live soon and I absolutely can't wait! Hehe.

17. FT Island - Like the Birds

Although this is a remake song, FT Island truly made it their own. Seunghyun and Jaejin are not the best at rapping but their rapping is really adorable hahaha. I love the build-up of this song - how it starts out as a soothing acoustic piece and slowly gets more exciting to something 'jam-worthy'. I can't wait for 15th Jan! And of course their next comeback!

18. Big Bang - Cafe

So when I was listening through all six tracks of their 4th Mini Album for the first time, my chain of thoughts was "mhmm, nice, nice, nice, nice, nice, HOLY I LOVE THIS SONG!" Hahaha. It's something you wouldn't really expect to hear from Big Bang but they absolutely nailed it! I especially enjoy their live performances of this song. Just like what the song title says, it sounds really Cafe-ish with all the falsettos in the song. Ah after listening to this song I think I'd like a cup of Cappuccino brb!

19. Big Bang - Stupid Liar

Released in the Special Edition album which I bought because of the cool packaging. At first I felt that it was just an 'okay' song but after a few listens I realised that I really like it! I never liked auto-tuned voices but GD's auto-tuned voice is really nice LOL I don't even know.

20. Big Bang - Love Song

The best songs of 2011 definitely must include Big Bang's Love Song. It also is one of the best music videos - known for its one-take filming. Another thing that makes this music video special is its black and white concept. And the lyrics are so sad! Aiyo 'nuff said, I just absolutely love this song - probably my next favourite Big Bang after Haru Haru.

21. Nam Woohyun - Time

One of my favourite tracks of Infinite's first full length album and this obviously has to go on this list because it's...Woohyun. Lol yeah I'm biased like that. But anyway, I really love Woohyun's voice and he did amazing in this performance even though he was sick. The melody and lyrics of the song match really well and he expresses it perfectly. The song still pulls at my heartstrings even after so long oh Woohyun will you sing this to me? Hahaha!
P.S. The last four are all by Infinite. Haha yes I'm biased like that.

22. Infinite - Can U Smile

Their follow-up song after Nothing's Over. Having a very different feel from all the previous songs they promoted, I really enjoy the laid back feel of the song. I really like how this song showcases all of their vocals even though Sungjong and Sungyeol still have really little lines T_T

23. Infinite - Be Mine

The song which brought Infinite's popularity to an all time high - Be Mine! Still retaining the Infinite edge and essence to this comeback, it is probably one of their most 'pop'-ish songs - and you know lots of people like it when Infinite was able to win #1 on M!Countdown with this song.

24. Infinite - Paradise

Definitely one of my favourites from them, Paradise! When the music video came out, it seemed like a comeback in which they wouldn't be dancing - since the music video doesn't have any dancing, and it is also a relatively slow song. Once again, however, Infinite impressed me with their very first live performance of this song. For some reason I really love the dance (it's not the hip thrusts lol), I don't even know why. Maybe it is just the fluidity and their execution of the dance.

25. Infinite - Voice of My Heart

My favourite song of Infinite and probably one of my top K-Pop favourites ever. What I love most about this song is that every member gets to sing a substantial number of lines and not like just one phrase or something. It has a beautiful melody and beautiful lyrics. And it never fails to touch me. I really do want to hear this song live really badly. Their vocals may not be up-to-par to fully express this song yet, but I'm sure as they spend more time in the industry, as singers, as Infinite, they will surely be able to produce even better and tear-jerking performances.

So, these are my top 25 K-Pop songs which have kept me company for the whole of last year. I am looking forward to more good music this year - SHINee's comeback, Big Bang's comeback, EXO's debut, the new group by YG. It's not only K-Pop though which I am looking forward too though - Boys Like Girls' and Faber Drive's records are coming out soon. This is definitely gonna be a great music year for me, and I hope, for you too :)

Less than a day before 2012 arrives. I think it's the assignments - I'm not really feeling the hype for this but it will surely be a good day later on!

Spending the countdown with my friends for the first time. I still wanna watch TKWC on TV though hahaha.

2011 has been really good to me! I got closer to a number of my peers, my GPA improved, and it was a great year for the fangirl in me.

I'm doing away with the New Year resolutions because I never fulfill them anyway, so all I hope for the New Year is for things to be smooth-sailing and everyone around me to be happy.

FT Island, Seoul with Stef, a new BLG album, a long-awaited S.H.E comeback - these are just some of the things that I am really looking forward to in the new year. Oh and of course Chinese New Year!

Even though 2011 has had its hard times there is still definitely good in it. It saddens me to see people saying that it has been a sucky year blah blah blah because how great or sucky a year ultimately depends on how you wanna spend it. For me, I enjoyed and embraced it to the fullest with the great company by my side and although there are some moments that I regret, I think it is important that one looks back to reflect and learn from the lessons taught from the past year.

I have a really small circle of friends that I usually hangout with and I am contented because having many friends doesn't mean you can trust them all but I know I can trust my circle of friends. I am really lazy to do a full year summary post so I guess I'll just let pictures do the talking!

Like An Adrenaline Shot Going Straight to the Heart

Met These Kids Wear Crowns for the second time this year. They were invited to the 987FM Studios so Rach and I decided to go see them. Thankfully there weren't too many fans - can't say the same after they perform tomorrow at Celebrate 2012!

They played a couple of songs in the studios - the acoustic versions of Jumpstart and Lifetime. Poor Matt and Josh were standing behind doing nothing though. No keyboards and drums. Lol.

Sounds really good to be honest. I wasn't expecting much haha!

Really happy for them that they are gaining recognition and getting to perform at such a huge event in a foreign country. All the best to them and I'm glad I got to interact with them before they become the next target of the cray cray fangirls in Singapore. Heh.

This year's Christmas was nothing as elaborate as last year's but I still had a lot of fun! Went over to Keith's place but he spent most of the time in his bed because he fell sick! :( Hope he feels better soon!

And there's this lil' devil who made my day more eventful. A 3½ month-old girl called Jolie (Keith's cousin I think).

It was so tiring playing with her but it was quite fun. It has been a long time since I played with a lil' kid so I guess it was good. She was crazy though, I totally got abused by her lol. Sigh, hanging out with small kids is probably the only time where I feel most loved. HAHA.

Eve of Christmas and I'm trying to get started on my individual assignments but to no avail.

I've never considered Christmas a big thing since my family doesn't celebrate it. My friends do though so all's cool. I'm really looking forward to tomorrow to hang out with the Poly gang. I guess we can take this as a day off from our assignments.

I sent out about 17 cards this Christmas and I'm glad that those who received it liked it. :) It does feel good to give. Hahaha.

Had a great night at The Ultimate K-Pop Party ft. DJ Masa with Stef, Rach, Mel and Cheryl!

It was definitely worth it - Masa was really charismatic (hehe) and the tunes he spun left everyone jumping and dancing non-stop on the dance floor! It was quite funny though because whenever he waved or did some hand actions in a dance to us we'd all spazz LOL what fangirls. Anyway, songs played included I Am The Best, Hands Up, Be Mine, Hello Hello (who would have thought one could club to an FT Island song?) and of course, what would a K-Pop party be without GD&TOP's High High?? Looking forward to the 3rd round! Do come back to Singapore soon, Masa! :)

Island A-Live!

Mel and I finished our filming for our Advanced TV Production's Sentosa project earlier tonight! Was feeling a tad nostalgic while on the Skyride at night LOL but it is definitely a huge burden taken off our backs!

Filming was fun in general. The only thing that thwarted our plans sometimes was the weather. Other than that, I don't really have any qualms since I had an awesome group mate and really friendly Sentosa Luge Skyline staff to help us all the way. Props to them for their hospitality!

No matter how many times I rode Luge and Skyride, it was always a different experience and I am definitely skilled in riding the luge now. Maybe a little too experienced - my luge almost toppled over during my last ride LOL because I was going too fast and I was at a bend.

Anyway, I'm just glad that filming's over! I can't wait for us to finish editing and see the final product! M&M fighting!!

Started off my birthday (kinda) with TVXQ's Asia Fan Party! Stef's aunt managed to get us free tickets hehe thank you so much again! It was truly amazing seeing the Gods of the East 'live' - even if it was just 2 of them. Yunho and Changmin absolutely surpassed my expectations and I was certainly a happy fangirl even though I can't be considered a Cassiopeia. I'd go on but I probably wouldn't stop so..pictures!

I'll definitely make whatever I have left of 2011 a memorable one!...by studying for Scriptwriting mid-sem and trying to finish the shitload of assignments I have. I'm so thankful I didn't agree to go overseas with my family or I'll be having a really difficult time with all the deadlines. Gonna be looking forward to the meet-ups and parties during the last week, though! Oh, of course, not forgetting our date with DJ Masa next Saturday!

Finally down to the weekend! This week has been nothing short of exciting. Went to Sentosa for our 2nd filming and there was also MAMA on Tuesday so we went to Stef's place to have a party, complete with popcorn!

Was gonna do my Scriptwriting but I decided that this post had more importance. Haha.

12 years - that is the number of years that I have been in my CCA, band. And after 2 Outdoor SYFs, 3 Indoor SYFs, KL World Marching Band Competition, National Band Competition, Singapore International Band Festival, 8 major concerts in venues like Victoria Concert Hall, Singapore Conference Hall and the Esplanade, and countless number of performances, I have come to the end of my band journey (indefinitely). Feeling a tad emotional now. The concert just now felt so short, but I enjoyed myself very much while it lasted. Wait, scrap that, I enjoyed my whole band journey, so much so that if I could turn back time and choose another path, I'd still take the same one that has enriched my life by a whole lot.

Backtrack to the year 2000, I decided to join band because I thought being able to play music was really cool. I was initially in choir but I didn't like it so I scooted over to band. Partly because my older cousins were in band and one of them made a career out of it so my mum thought that it would be a good idea for me to join. Of course, I gladly obliged and I realised I had a flair for music. I picked up the skill of playing the E-flat horn really fast and during Primary 4, I joined my first SYF as a Trumpet soloist, which was quite unexpected since it was not my main instrument at all (I became Section Leader for E-flat horn that year too wth lol). I think it was because of this experience that my confidence grew and I really grew a lot as a player.
In Primary 6, I was assigned the role of Band Leader while still remaining Section Leader. My brother was in the band too then and it was kind of cool being in the same band as your siblings and his batch's people all knew me as "Danny's sister" LOL.

I had a resolution to join TK Band after my primary school education because I saw how cool their band was and so I did! It was the wisest decision I had ever made in my life because I was introduced to this amazing instrument called the French horn and gained experiences that I could never have gotten anywhere else, plus it was the best four years of my band life and definitely the most enriching. I was always really enthusiastic during band practices for some reason. Though practicing for the display band competitions was really tough and we had practices every day for a period of time, I never had any regrets.
It was because of TK Band that I truly understood the meaning of 'one for all, all for one' and I gained a huge family. It was because of those four years that I got to experience victory and loss. I will never forget how hard I cried in 2006 and 2008. I don't think I have ever worked so hard for anything before. Maybe it was because I had 160 other people working towards the same goal as me. Maybe it was because I felt obliged to work hard to uphold the name of TK Band. Either way, I felt really proud of myself and the whole band whether we won or didn't.
I was really happy that even though I only had the post of Librarian, I knew that I had contributed to the band a whole lot - whether in coaching juniors in drills, music or even in the running of the band.

Being in TK Band was the best experience in my whole life and I wouldn't have traded anything else for it. While others may think that I was crazy for being such a band freak, they'd never understand how much pride I had in telling others, "I am from TK Band." *cue envious faces*

The next 3 years were spent in Temasek Polytechnic Concert Band where I became Band President. It was definitely a huge responsibility but being able to experience leading a band once again taught me a lot. It was undoubtedly hectic and thankfully I had my committee to share the workload. We worked really well together and it was a pleasure being able to work with them. My French horn section was always so fun-loving too and I especially enjoyed hanging out and having sectionals with them. My life as a student band member definitely ended on a good note.

12 years is a long time and it has really been a hell of a ride. More than half my life has been dedicated to music and I still see more years to come, even though it may be of a different genre. Through band, I found my passion and probably the only thing that I am good at (lol). And I have or never will regret. Thank you to all who have been my band mates (esp section mates), my friends and family who have always been so supportive of me doing my thing, all conductors whom I have been under the baton of, all teachers-in-charge and everyone else who has supported the bands that I was in before.

Enjoying Working

Spent my Sunday and Monday working on assignments (kinda?) at the Affordable Art Fair and Sentosa.

The Art Fair was held at the F1 Pit Building and in search for the venue for Sundown Festival after the fair, we ended up on the finishing line of the F1 race track. Naturally, the geeky side of me was really happy hahaha McLaren all the way!!

Walking across the Helix Bridge in the heavy rain to MBS because someone wanted Gongcha. Oh the distances we travel to satisfy cravings.

Just came back from Sentosa after a day of filming with Mel and I'm glad to say that we have had a great start! The next filming date will be in December so I hope everything else goes well! The people at the Skyline Luge are amazingly friendly and working with them is such a pleasure!

Sigh fun's over for a while, gotta start on Scriptwriting soon, and I gotta start taking care of myself lol my voice is really dead.

Probably, I've been feeling quite under the weather recently so I'm really cranky. And really irritable and shit. And I feel so lousy about myself.

I don't know why but I perpetually feel like I'm being made use of to do lotsa random stuff. Don't get me wrong - I really love helping people but sometimes it just feels as if others just take me for granted and it fucking sucks especially if the people are my friends. They probably know that I love helping people so yeah.

All I want is some recognition, and acknowledgement. And maybe a little bit more. Is that so difficult?

Down to the last two months of the year. Time is passing too fast for my liking. We are into the second week of school and frankly speaking I'm starting to feel a little overwhelmed by deadlines and all. Advance TV Production lesson today was really fun though - we got to go to Sentosa and went to almost all the attractions! I totally felt like a kid again!

I Know Life Is A Mystery, I'm Gonna Make History

Started the first day of school with a 9am Advanced TV Production lesson. The fact that school has started has not sunk in yet. I'm really liking what I see in this module though:

A Sentosa documentary thingy where we are given $250 to spend on food, transport etc, while doing the project. Plus free admission to the island!
New filming equipment which are so much more portable as well (camera, tripod, lights)
A really nice tutor - Ms Chee!
An amazing teammate, Mel!

Talked to my Scriptwriting tutor and she seems really really nice too. Finally submitted my SIP report sealed in a envelope from Daiso. Hahaha.

No Media Law lecture tomorrow so it means there's no school for two days! Sweet. Probably gonna spending these two days pigging away.

I feel like I have done nothing except the report during the 3 week break but at least I spent the last day of the holidays fruitfully at Rach's place recording the Korean version of 'The Boys'. Hehe.

It felt great to see everyone together at the same place again and that means we can hang out more often again! I really missed speaking to everyone I feel like I haven't spoken to some people properly in ages. Hi Stef I'm talking about you!

And thank you for the Sunny notebook! ^^ I'll probably won't bear to use it hahaha.

Take It Slow

Trying out the Blogger app for iPhone so I'm typing this from my iTouch right now (/edit: I had to use web Blogger after typing because I can't choose where to insert pictures and embed videos in the app). Yes yes I know I'm supposed to continue on my report but I wanna try this out first! :)

Went out with Rachy, Jon and Nava to watch The Change-Up. We were supposed to watch Real Steel at first but we changed our minds. Changed our minds to The Change-Up. Hahaha get it?? Okay shut up.
Anyway, the movie was interesting. Except I wasn't expecting so much nudity. Okay I should have, seeing that the first word that came out of the lead actor, Jason Bateman, was 'fuck'. Well I'm just certainly scarred. Lol.
Either than that the day was certainly well-spent, complete with good-natured teasing and joking with my dear friends.

Personally I'm liking the English one better. Mad props to the girls for their pronunciation because I can actually make out what they are saying! Sunny looks crazily hot and the rest of them are as flawless as ever. I don't like Seohyun's flower dress thingy though. All the awards on music shows are going to them yet again and without a doubt they are going to achieve an all-kill on music charts. I almost feel sorry for Secret. :/

Have been buying stuff ~~on impulse~~ for the past couple of days. Namely a denim cap and a half-leather-half-cotton vest from H&M and Forever 21 respectively. The fact that no more money is gonna come in anymore has to start sinking in. (What if I'm going for MAMA??)

Alright, back to my report! Will be staying home the whole of tomorrow to hopefully complete it. Fingers crossed.

Was still up at 3am last night ~~this morning~~ trying to do my report but obviously I kind of failed. I really need to get my act together and chiong!

Rachy was up too and because of a video of Lee Seung Gi we both started spazzing. Sigh, the life of fangirls. We were talking about how Infinite and Mr Lee (no not Lee Jinki) are most likely coming down to Singapore. Frankly, I absolutely can't wait for Infinite to come down after witnessing their amazing life performance at K-Pop Night last year. Paradise is really such a nice song. I've been replaying it ever since it got released. Trying to learn the dance but I just look really awkward. Sigh Infinite hip thrusts..

Then we went on to talk about how we would like to be performing on stage. I'm not even thinking about getting fame and kachingz. I just really really love performing and I'd totally love to make it my job. It may be tough and whatnot but every job has its pros and cons. I'm sure if I were a performer, the sense of satisfaction and the feeling of being on a stage is enough. I'd just like to have fun on stage, that's all. Of course meeting celebs and all will be a bonus but, yeah you know what I mean. Anyone wants to offer us some lobangs? If some Singapore Idol K-Pop Version comes out I think I'll go join for fun. Hahaha.

Life's pretty mundane because Stef's in Phuket! But there's free Wi-fi at her hotel so contacting each other isn't a problem at all! ^^ I love hotels that provide free Wi-fi! My hotel lobby in Beijing did... But China banned Twitter so it kinda sucked. That's what I call a first world pain.

Gonna be meeting Sziyi and Fel for Aston's and Ice Cube later for the latter's birthday. Not really a celebration but just a simple meet-up. Can't wait to have ice cream. Hehe. Yup anyway happy birthday Fel! See you later! :)

I have been sitting at my desk for a few hours doing everything but my report. Well at least I have my student guide beside me - that's half the battle won!

Going back to my internship company tomorrow to freelance for one week! Gonna be having my lunches with my colleagues and Jared again! Yay Hokkien Mee! ^^

And while I'm hard at work, my MS B members, Stef and Brenda are gonna be flying off to Phuket/Korea and Japan respectively. Sigh poor maknae left alone in this shithole of eccentric weather! Have fun and have a safe trip, unnies!

Lost In Stereo

Had the craziest gig experience ever on the 6th of October.

Brian and I were not familiar with Wavehouse so when we were trying to find the queue we stumbled into the performance area where The Dirt Radicals were having their soundcheck. Decided to snap a few pics. We found out a while later that we were not supposed to be there. I seriously didn't know though, LOL no one stopped us when we were walking into the venue. Uh well.

During the 7 hours of queuing, I was really annoyed with the big group of fangirls behind me. Step scene kids, really. Even the Caucasian girls in front of us were visibly annoyed. It was quite interesting when they scolded this group of Malays who joined the queue at around 5pm. The embarrassment, really - a couple of them are from TK.

Went to find Nava and Mitch when they came! Eudora wasn't there because she forgot to bring her tickets and she was rushing home.

So at around 6.30pm, the doors opened and there was a mad rush for good spots and I managed to get to the first row! I chose the to be on the left side of the stage - where my favourite member, Jack, was going to be! Just in between the barricades and the stage was a small space for the security and media. But I was crazily close to the stage! Then, the worst happened - it started to rain. So we just stood in the rain for around 2 hours for the opening act to come on but everything was delayed by one hour, which obviously got everyone quite grouchy.

I was quite drenched by the time The Dirt Radicals got on stage but the crowd was revved up almost immediately! A little to revved up though - all the barricades except for the one I was behind fell. Fortunately I was pulling back the barricade or I'd have fallen too! They had to stop the set for a little while and I got the freaking shock of my life when I saw a pair of legs sticking out from under the stage. It was one of the security guys in front and he lay there motionless while the annoying Mats were shouting at the opening band to get on with the show/get off the stage. What idiots really. But anyway, as I watched the other security guards attending to him I really felt like I didn't want a gig anymore. It was really traumatizing. I hope the guy's okay and recuperating well! :/

The organizers then decided to move the barricades against the stage so I ended up right in front of the stage. TDR then continued with their set with songs like 'Pack Your Bags' and 'Daddy's Disco Days'. Really catchy! And the drummer is crazily wicked!!

And of course, next up was the band that everyone was waiting for - All Time Low!!

When they came up on stage, it seemed so surreal! From anticipating the release of their albums and watching their performances on Straight to DVD via the screen of my laptop, All Time Low has always been a band that I admired and I swore that I would see them 'live' one day and there they were, right in front of me!
It was really amazing! And I can't recall how many times Jack looked at me with those big round eyes of his!

ATL got the crowd crazy immediately and I especially enjoyed 'Damned If I Do Ya', 'Time-Bomb', 'Forget About It' and 'Remembering Sunday'. I recall myself headbanging during 'Lost In Stereo' yeah I was lost in the music most definitely.
I was close to tears when Alex crooned out 'Therapy'. At that point of time, I really felt that my life was complete - I mean, I have already seen all my favourite artistes perform my favourite songs.

Was hoping for a pick from Jack but got a water bottle that he drank from instead.

Yeah it's on my table right now. Don't worry I washed it.

After the gig I managed to get a picture with The Dirt Radicals' drummer, Matt! Hahaha the name Matt always reminds me of Rachy.

Thank you so much to Rachy's friend, Justine, for going to queue at 7am! We probably wouldn't have been able to be second in the queue and gotten right in front of the stage if not for you!

It was a great night. And the queuing was all worth it! Rian, Zack, Jack and Alex, thank you guys so much for finally coming down to Singapore! Though it would have been better if you guys came before your music hit the airwaves here. So many teeny boppers, omg. And the crowd was so bad. Still, All Time Low was amazing 'live' and I am so glad that I was finally able to watch them up-close! ♥

I'll just be suffering from withdrawal symptoms now. "Cause there's nothing surgery can't do" - I think All Time Low is wrong for once.

Paradise

Let's go back in time for a little bit to 23rd Sept! Yup, that was the first day of the Singapore Grand Prix 2011 and you guessed it, I only went for the performances put up by GD&TOP and Seungri. Heh.
We had to start queuing from the afternoon though, and the sun was relentless that day. We spent a few hours in the sweltering heat before we could go into Zone 4 of the race venue.

And as if we were not tired enough, we had to race with other fangirls to the Padang just so that we could be as close to the front as possible for the queue to go into the Fan Zone area. Got to tour around Zone 4 for a bit though and I'd say it was pretty interesting!

So at around 7pm they finally let us into the Fan Zone. But as expected, because of some inconsiderate fans who had total disregard for the queue (despite glares and protests from other fans), it became totally chaotic and what could have earned us a first class spot became the third/forth row from the extended stage. Screw you bitches!
Nevertheless I did have fun - despite having a sore arm after that from holding the DSLR up high above my head to snap some ~~mediocre~~ photos. Charice's powerhouse vocals awed me! Somehow I always had the impression that she was more of an acoustic kind of singer but I was definitely proven wrong when she started belting out songs in the pop and pop rock genre - including a Billie Jean segment which she showed us some of Michael's signature dance moves ~~which needed a bit of polishing~~.

But of course what really got us crazy was none other than the trio from Big Bang! Their hour long segment started with a really cool DJ set with the DJ spinning hits from YG artistes, namely Big Bang and 2NE1. It definitely pumped up the crowd! But there was this woman beside me (obviously not there for this segment) who kind of started sniggering when all of the fans started singing in Korean. Hello woman I have no idea what you were laughing about - we did come for the K-Pop performance after all. Were you expecting us to sing along in English translation? Thankfully she left halfway or I think I'd have punched her. Haha nah I kid!

Anyway, Seungri took the stage first with VVIP, What Can I Do and Strong Baby! Poor maknae didn't know his fly was undone throughout the whole thing! Neither were the fans though because I believe that everyone was looking at his face and not...there. I wasn't by the way! I only noticed it when saw it on Twitter and when I reviewed my photos later on. He tried his best with his English though and he said something I wouldn't expect to hear from him: "Put your freaking hands up!" *sends audience into a frenzy*

And as expected what brought the crowd to an all time high was GD&TOP! They performed Knock Out, High High and Oh Yeah (with Park Bom unfortunately). GD's English is really cute actually but it wasn't very cute anymore when he shouted: "PUT YOUR MOTHERF*CKING HANDS UP!" Everyone just totally went hysterical which was really bad for me because it was already so difficult to take pictures at that time. But well I kind of just let everything go during High High and I freaking enjoyed myself!

The three of them later appeared on stage together with How Gee! I swear when Seungri was standing in front of us he looked at me for a few seconds!! I think I kind of attracted a bit of attention because I was jumping and putting up the \m/ handsign which was a little inappropriate since that was K-Pop and not Rock but heck it, if it was worth that few seconds of eye contact it was definitely worth it!

We managed to catch them leaving in a car (not a van with tinted windows yay!) and they waved back to us! How nice of them really. And GD's fingers are really slender. Mine are short and stout although I play the piano. Sigh FML.
By the way, I really think Seungri's climbing up my Big Bang bias list hahaha. But Taeyang's still my No. 1! :)

It was DBS Black Top Party two days later and this time we had Brenda and Xueyan as well! Five's a party, really! What added on to the atmosphere was that it was the last day of the Grand Prix and well being able to drink on the rooftop of Fullerton Bay Hotel while watching the coverage of F1 on a huge screen was a great way to end the weekend!
Pity that this was our last Black Top Party though! Most of the people who went had nothing but good words for the event. Props to the organising committee and of course to everyone else who helped out. Of course, thank you to Stef and her supervisor for the opportunity to take part in these Black Top Parties. I really enjoyed the experience. And the drinks, of course.

And I have just ended my awesome September on a high note with the end of internship, and also Miss A's showcase!

The tickets are totally cool - they are made of actual card material. Thumbs up!

Despite an annoying cab driver, I really enjoyed myself. I had great company and was treated to performances by four talented and gorgeous girls. Suzy was really really pretty! I'm not even kidding! Even when she cried when everyone celebrated an early birthday for her she still looked flawless! Seriously, life is really unfair!
They had surprise solo stages - Min with a hip-hop dance stage, Suzy with a soothing ballad, and Jia and Fei with a sexy dance performance. I'm really glad I got to hear Good-bye Baby 'live' because to me, that is their strongest single yet! They were amazing and Max Pavilion's sound system did them no justice at all!
The games they played were fun to watch but honestly some of the participants were really... I can't find the right word. But woah if the pair of Ludacris Soul headphones was presented to me I'd be so happy! That's besides the point though!
The four ladies were really lively and Min's cuteness and craziness just got me smiling most of the time. Suzy was too adorable! She was a little reserved at the beginning but she slowly opened up but she still kind of 'amchio-ed' and that melted my heart so many times! Fei was the quietest as usual but her rendition of a cat drove the crowd crazy. Jia on the other hand was really outspoken and I loved how she 'lashed out' at a fan for expressing her love to Suzy when Jia was the one who picked her to come up on stage. LOL but honestly the girl should have given Jia some face!
Overall their personalities are so different but they complement each other so well! Miss A is one of the better K-Pop girl groups right now (at least to me) and although their fanbase in Singapore is still quite small, I believe that they will soar even higher! Miss A 화이팅!!

The end of September also marks the end of my 6-month long internship! Relieved that it is over but at the same time I can't bear to leave the place. After all, I enjoyed doing my K-Pop programmes and most of the people there were so friendly. Not to mention, they took care of me really well, just like I was a little baby. Not that I minded though! ^^

To all my colleagues who have taught me so much during the last 24 weeks, thank you so much for giving me a nice experience for my internship. I really appreciate it and yeah, I'll be seeing you guys again in 10 days' time when Jared and I go back for one week of free-lancing.
I'd like to thank Stef too for accompanying me everyday at work virtually (although sometimes you take ages to reply) - without you I'd be one bored Michy! And of course to everyone who has entertained me through the days which I did not have much to do.
And of course, a big thank you to my lunch buddy and fellow intern, Jared! Honestly I was not very sure if we'd get along since we come from different cliques and all but I realized that we are actually very similar in many ways - like how both of us are really lame and how we can talk about football. So yes I'm glad that I wasn't alone for internship. I BET YOU ARE TOUCHED RIGHT YAP JIE REN! But okay you'll probably never see this anyway so see you soon! Hokkien mee! \m/

Six Feet Under the Stars

This is not a proper update but I popped by because all I am doing now is burning CDs and I have to kill time or I'd be bored.

Exactly one more week to see All Time Low perform right in front of my eyes at Wavehouse Sentosa! I have been waiting forever for them so I really am stoked, though I was a little sad to see one of the setlists I found online because three of my favourite songs are missing from it! Where is Break Your Little Heart, Remembering Sunday and Therapy! :(

This is from their Australia tour though so I do really hope that they include the three songs in their gigs in Asia! All my friends who are going for the gig are kind of upset that Remembering Sunday was not included.

In other news, a band that Stef and I have been waiting for is finally coming down to Singapore after their long hiatus! Yes I am talking about none other than Good Charlotte!

It'd be really cool to be able to meet them so I'm definitely going down to the airport to try my luck just like I am doing so for All Time Low. Hope to get picks from them maybe? And pictures and autographs (hey I did not buy their albums for nothing ya know).
This gig is going to be at The Coliseum, Hard Rock Hotel at RWS. Yeah Sentosa again. Why can't these gigs be at a more accessible place?? They are performing on 18th November which is a Friday. And since it's still a school day, we'll just have to hope that it ends early and there are no major projects and such because that would suck so much. But till then, I'll just be looking forward to this event! My first rock concert with Stef hahaha gonna be interesting.

Only two days left of internship and I'm having mixed feelings right now. I am relieved that it's finally over but yet kind of reluctant and sad to leave. I really will miss doing programmes, especially my K-Pop ones. Not to mention the thrill of getting and opening new CDs every time. Hahaha.

I'll be having a proper update soon, but not before Miss A's showcase on Friday that Brenda won us tix to! Excited!

I hardly listen to C-Pop now but I really like this song. Not the conventional trashy pop or ballads, you can totally hear OneRepublic's style in there - all the strings instrumentation and basically the arrangement of the music. I have no idea why I have been feeling so tired these past few days. I think I should blame it on the weather. And mind you I have been sleeping earlier than I usually do okay! But omg, one more week of SIP, and I won't have to wake up so early anymore - at least till school reopens. Totally not looking forward to doing the report. I'd definitely have to make a mental note to screenshot everything that I am gonna be including into the report. Have already gotten a couple of them but I guess more is better.

Went for the World Runway Premiere thanks to one of the Jap presenters who presents for my company. She got a few invites and asked if we would like some. Of course I gladly obliged and I asked a few others along. I'm especially glad I asked Rachel along because she brought along Taemin's jacket (he left it in her dad's van when he fetched SHINee) and I got to wear it for a while. HEHE *spazz*
The execution of the whole programme was quite problematic. We had to wait really long between segments because the crew had to set-up but I guess since that was the first time the event was held, it was understandable. There were stylists and models from 8 countries - USA, UK, Brazil, France, Russia, Italy, Japan and Singapore, and it was pretty interesting I must say. It was kind of like a competition and UK came out tops in the end. Russia had uhm...really interesting fashion. I liked France's the most though. They showcased stuff that people would actually wear out, unlike some of the other outrageous outfits.
Of course, the real reason we went for this event was to see SE7EN perform! I find that he is so underrated because he was really really good! He danced really well and he nailed all his falsettos and along with his trademark handstand, I was really awed. I wish that he sang 'I'm Going Crazy' which is my favourite song from him but I wasn't expecting him to sing 'Come Back to Me' so I guess that was a pleasant surprise!

It is gonna be more eventful this coming weekend though! Going to watch the F1 stage performances with Stef and a few others tomorrow - mainly GD&TOP and Seungri (I wish Taeyang was coming too though). I hope it will not be too crowded and crazy. I'm really drained and I really don't wish to be jostling with 1000 over people. I don't think tomorrow will be as bad as the final day which has Linkin Park though. If any idiot beside me is gonna be moshing I will freakin' ppeogigayo you.

Sunday will be the final DBS Black Top Party and hopefully we can catch some F1 action? I really like events where you can talk to people and all heh it makes me feel good in some way when people do actually engage in my conversations, LOL. Brenda will be joining us this time too!! :)

Time is moving crazily slow today. Just finished mixing a programme but I'm trying to stall time so that I look like I have something to do. Falling sleep and I hope I don't die before work ends.

By the way, a very happy birthday to the one and only Keith Goh! Stay dope 'aight? You are the only exception! :)

Oh yes! And I got my first Youtube honour yesterday: #29 - Most Viewed (This Week) - Musicians - Singapore.

Beautiful Target

What wrong can these five boys do?? Even their live performance of this is amazinggggg but I'll never get all the weird Engrish lyrics in K-Pop. 'Oh my beautiful target, you zoom zoom my heart like a rocket' hahaha seriously?
Whatever heh I really like CNU in this comeback! And Baro's rockin' the blonde! Still prefer him with his black hair though.

They don't specialize in a specific field but their I never ever get tired of watching their performances. On their stage they are just having fun and everything just seems so bubbly and happy. Hehehe.

Sighh B1A4 kept me happy the whole day even though I had an awkward encounter. Sigh why of all people?? LOL goodnight! :)

Adventure

I woke up really late just now and yeah I was late for work. Kinda upset that my punctuality streak is broken but uh well, what's done is done. I really must make it a point to let my alarm snooze in the morning. I'm guessing that I'll have to stay back for a little bit one of these days, within the next two weeks to be exact. Supervisor's not in but I'm pretty sure she'll know about it. My colleagues were nice though - they thought I got into an accident lol. They said it isn't in my nature to be late. Haha yay I'm glad they know that!

Speaking of nature, being the adventurous bunch that we are, we headed down to Pulau Ubin on Sunday (the day after SHINee's concert omg I was really tired - didn't help that I was suffering from post-concert blues) for some fish spa and lagoon kayaking at not very heaven-like Celestial Resort. Honestly the place seemed pretty cool but the toilets and shower facilities were really really bleahhh.

Fish spa was boring for me because I refused to let fish bite me. So I was pretty much just sitting and chilling while everyone else got their feet cleansed of dead skin. Kayaking was obviously fun for me! That's what I came for in the first place. It was fun and tiring. After intentionally capsizing, Jon and I were just wading around in the water with Brenda. The life jacket was suffocating me though and when I came out of the water I was met with a headache. I'm thinking that it is because of my motion-sickness. Meh why am I so problematic? :(

SHINee World

Started out my Saturday morning by speed-reading Norwegian Wood while Stef the pig lay in her bed for eternity.
We met up with Rachel before the SHINee World Concert and bought lightsticks and went in. I was quite surprised that the concert actually started on time.

Anyway, SWC was everything that I have been waiting for the past couple of months. It was nothing short of amazing - even though the boys seemed really tired. Such is the magic of these five shining boys, it would definitely have been flawless if they have had a good rest before it.

Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed myself and I remember all the excitement cooped up inside me letting itself out when 'The SHINee World' came on. I was pretty sure they were lip-syncing to this song and a few others though.

The 'Intro' segment included catchy dance songs like 'Senorita', 'A.Mi.Go', 'Juliette', 'Love Should Go On' and 'Stand By Me'. Key and Minho kept coming to our side. We were totally getting crazy whenever any of them came to our side.

We were sitting at the Terrace seats but trust me it was really really near whenever they came to the extended stage. So close that I could take shots like these:

Yeah Onew hardly came to our side so when he did I made it a point to snap as many shots as possible. All for you, Rachy!

The next segment were the solo stages and it started out with Taemin's stage, 'Romeo+Juliette'.

Poor boy was out of tune almost all the way! :( But the dance break was flawless. Really, he showed everyone once again why he is SHINee's dance machine. And while I'm here let me proclaim my love for this maknae. I LOVE TAEMIN. T_T lol okay sorry.
After that was Jonghyun singing 'This Woman's Work' originally by Kate Bush.

Unfortunately he was singing the whole thing in Engrish so I really didn't understand 90% of the song. Haha so sorry Jonghyun. Your vocal range is still amazing though. But you really have to stop straining cuz my throat hurts for you everytime you do that.
Right after that was yes, OMG, Minho! Stef totally couldn't control her excitement LOL but I really can't blame her. He was really hot. Really!!! Hahaha.

See I wasn't kidding!! Hahaha. Yup, he totally brought down the roof at the Indoor Stadium.
Right after that was 'My First Kiss' by Key ft. *sigh* Barbie Tae.

Seriously Taemin GET OUT OF THAT. It was really really hard to watch you know. It felt like he was an underaged prostitute whoring around. :( I still love you though Tae. Nevertheless it was entertaining and it was definitely one of the performances that kept the audience high all the way although it was my least favourite performance LOL.

One of the segments that I enjoyed most was the 'Sweet Serenades' segments where the boys crooned out ballads like 'Quasimodo', 'Life' and the one which captured my heart the most, 'Romantic'. It had me close to tears, especially after Taemin's part (he sang one small part wrongly but all's well because he is cute). Arguably my favourite SHINee song. The segment ended with none other than...

Onew's rendition of the Italian operatic piece called 'Nessum Dorma'. He hit every high note perfectly and he totally exceeded my expectations. One shouldn't expect any less from Leader Jinki!!

The final set was what brought the atmosphere to an all time high though. With jams like 'Ring Ding Dong', 'Up & Down', 'Ready or Not' and 'Lucifer', we stood up with our lightsticks in hand, and started bopping to the to the beat and screaming our lungs out for the fanchant of 'Lucifer'. It was crazy!!

Then came the encore which started off with 'JoJo' and properly ended with 'One'. I was kind of tearing during the final song, partly because it was a ballad and with the members giving their thank you speeches and everyone singing Key a birthday song, the whole atmosphere of the stadium was just really touching. :')

Of course, no SHINee concert is complete without playing with water. Well mainly it was just Taemin, Minho and Jonghyun.

It was definitely a night I will always remember. It may not have been great in the eyes of critiques and reporters for the newspapers but the most important thing is that those who were present enjoyed themselves. Thank you Running Into the Sun for bringing them in ~~at a crazily high price.~~ Thank you to Stef's aunt's colleague for helping us secure such excellent seats. Of course, thank you Stef and Rach, my two concert companions! The experience would have been really really different without the both of you.

And the last but definitely not least, thank you to the five boys of SHINee for that amazing night. I love all five of you heh. Don't come back so soon because we are all broke. Haha.

I'm sorry that I went to Temasek Poly instead of Temasek JC because I wanted to join CMM.

I'm sorry that in my entire life I've only taken up leadership roles of Class Monitor, Prefect, Councillor, Band Major, Section Leader, Librarian and Band President.

I'm sorry that my Mathematics in primary school improved from a fail to A.

Following my '7 Things' post, Stef has given me 4 more things to write about because I am currently really really bored during work now. And the list goes like this:

1. Amber of f(x)

She is undeniably one of the coolest K-Pop idols I know. I mean, it is really not surprising that she's one of my idols considering that Ella from S.H.E was my first idol, right? These 'tomboy' idols are classic examples of the fact that you do not need to be really girly or sexy blah blah blah to be successful.

In every f(x) performance, the loudest of cheers goes to her. She has so many fangirls who look up to her and yes I am one of them. In any case it's so much better to have female fans looking up to you then have fanboys lusting over you. Eew.

Oh, I totally love her English accent and her swag while she's rapping too! And seeing that she is really close to many idols in the industry, I guess she must be really friendly too! She's really down-to-earth and not arrogant too, which is a commendable trait for people who are famous.

2. Baro of B1A4

Cha Sunwoo, rapper and resident squirrel of B1A4. The band caught my attention with their first single 'O.K' and I totally fell in love with Baro when I saw their 21st May Music Core performance.

Everything about this performance is perfection! You can hear their voices clearly, the camera work is great, Baro exceptionally adorable but at the same time he still looks cool, a Baro/Gongchan interaction at the end, and the way Baro grabs his cap whenever they jump (I think it's a bit loose).

This has got to be the cutest thing ever! Hehehe.
Personality wise, maybe because B1A4's just a rookie group, they are still really humble and all. When they came to Singapore as I blogged about before, a few of us managed to catch the boys. As I was walking beside Baro, I held out my poster and marker for him to sign and he did stretch out his hands, but the security kinda blocked me and he gave me an apologetic look. I still can remember that look on his face. Yeah that incident firmly rooted him at the top of my B1A4 bias list.
There was apparently an incident that happened in Singapore too where a security guard accidentally (or not) stepped on a fan's note which fell to the ground and Baro became angry. Aww, such a sweet boy, really.

HIS TALENTS.
Well first off, he can rap (duh) and he does it with a lot of...well, swag. Yes I know I have been using this word a lot please pardon me. But he has a really deep voice so when he raps it is really nice. He writes his own raps too - the rap parts in all of the five songs are written solely by him!

But the talent I love most about him is that he can beatbox!
For me, beatboxing is one of the most admirable talents. Contrary to belief, it is not simple at all and it doesn't only require using the mouth. The throat is also required in beatboxing and it is something that I have not been able to do yet.

Absolutely love the beatbox here. Can he be my teacher? Hahahaha.
He is really athletic as well!! I mean, you know you are athletic when you are able to beat Minho in a race. Lol.

There are so many other reasons why I love this boy but I can't really think of any more right now, so I'll just leave this as it is!

3. Why I Choose Not To Be Feminine

Well this is an interesting topic. I have no idea when this whole 'I don't wanna wear skirts/dresses' thing started actually. When I was younger (like in primary school) I was still fine with wearing those and I even liked wearing heels, LOL. But I guess the mindset of 'I had short hair so I should wear more boyish stuff' took over. I guess the mindset has sunk in so deep that I still am unwilling to wear skirts even though i have long hair now. I still think my current style suits me the best. I guess the most important thing is that I must feel comfortable in what I wear, or I'd feel really uncomfortable the whole day.

Actually I think if you mix around with me long enough, you'd be able to see that I'm not all that tomboyish. I do dress like one but my actions are still really...quite girly?? Hahahahahahahaha I'm serious though!

I wish my friends will stop wishing that I'd wear a dress one day though because it gets a little irritating at times, especially if I'm not close to the person damn it go away please go wear a tablecloth or something, don't bother me! Whatever that is going to come will come eventually. I'm not saying that this is going to come though. Hahaha *inserts troll face*

4. Something I Would Want to Venture in Besides Music

Hmm, I honestly don't have something that I really want to do besides music but I would like to try acting one day. Haha yes something to do with entertainment too.

I think my acting's pretty good LOL. Like I can make myself cry at will, and I can hold back laughter fairly well. I think I'd do pretty well at crying and breaking down scenes, or as a person who took a bullet for someone. HAHA my imagination's taking me a bit far but yes, acting is something that I want to try if I ever get the chance.

This may not be realistic and all but heyyy I'm still young I can still dream!! Or would you guys have preferred me to write about how I would love to work in an administrative office? Nah I don't think so.

The maker of SNSD's 8-Bit Gee presents a medley of 19 8-Bit K-Pop songs. If you haven't seen this you totally should! It's genius, it's cute, it's funny. LOL @ midget Boram, giant Sulli, Dara's hair and uber tanned Yuri. HOW DO PEOPLE COME UP WITH THINGS LIKE THAT REALLY?!?!
It's an awesome job done though. Totally loving After School's part. Should have done something like that for MEP. A confirmed 'A'.
Now I just have to figure out which part I wanna put as my ringtone. Hehehe.

Alright. I was supposed to have completed this March last year but well.. yeah I didn't.
Well basically Stef gave me 7 things and I had to explain what they mean to me and why I am interested in them. And since it has been such a long time and my interests have changed from March 2010, she gave me a new list, and it goes like this:

1. Real Madrid
2. Am I Really Lactose Intolerant?
3. Woohyun from Infinite
4. MS B
5. Future Taylor and Tyler
6. One Thing I Wish Occurred Earlier
7. If I Could Change One Thing About Myself

Yup, guess I'll start the ball rolling now. Leggo! (Let's go in rap slang)

1. Real Madrid

Call me superficial, but I really started liking Real Madrid after 2010's World Cup. I supported Spain during that period (I still do) and a certain player caught my eye - Sergio Ramos. He plays as a right back and is dubbed by many as the best right back in the world. Anyway, while watching the Spain matches I noticed that he does a hell lot of running up and down the right flank, and in the finals he had two chances to score (which he missed unfortunately) but his headers usually find their target. Yeah so from there, I started noticing him and slowly I gained more interest in Real Madrid.

I love watching them play. Spanish soccer is classy soccer, as many say. And I couldn't agree more with that. The teamwork and camaraderie in this team is amazing and it is a joy watching them play (maybe except against Barca because I always get really annoyed during El Clasicos). They have so many impressive players. From captain Iker Casillas, the long range shot master Xabi Alonso aka the captain without an armband, aggressive vice-captain Sergio Ramos, to Germany's Ozil who creates a hell lot of chances for scoring, and of course, the scoring machine Cristiano Ronaldo. To be honest, I hated him at first but after I liked Real Madrid, the hatred disappeared and well, all I can say now is that I support him along with the rest of the team. The striking force consisting of him, Angel di Maria, Benzema, Adebayor and Higuain is definitely not one to be reckoned with.

And after all this technical talk, allow me to be superficial once more and let me just say that Real Madrid has a squad with the most good looking players. I mean, watching few nice handsome faces while watching a game never hurt anyone. Fabio Coentrao, Sergio Canales and Kaka, just to name a few, are the few charming faces one can look out for in this team. Too bad Canales is on loan to Valencia.

I am proud to be a Madridista can foresee myself sticking by this team for a very long time to come. Great job to my boys for an awesome start to the season, go out there and kick some balls! Literally. Hala Madrid!!

2. Am I Really Lactose Intolerant?

(Sorry just had to insert this. A little Taemin never hurt anyone.)

Honestly, no, I'm not. But I just can't take anything that's too creamy or tastes too creamy. Like those cheese thingys that you sprinkle on pizza and pasta? No I can't take that. But melted cheese is really fine with me.

I have no idea when I started disliking milk. After all, everyone drinks milk when they are young. However, I do vaguely remember during Primary school, my mum used to make Milo for my breakfast but she'd add lots of milk (even after the countless times I have told her that I hated it) and I'd pour it all away when she wasn't looking. This happened for a couple of years (I'm not even kidding lol) until one day I was caught (oops) and so she stopped adding milk into my Milo LOL.

I can't take stuff like Milk Tea or any pastries or cakes which has lots of cream (fresh cream is fine though). I love cream soups though but I can't take it if it's too creamy either. Basically as long as I'm not turned off by the smell, I will consume it. It goes the same for all of my food.

3. Woohyun from Infinite

Hmm, where do I start? It wasn't his looks which attracted me in the first place - it was his voice. While I was watching the She's Back video shortly after K-Pop Night 2010 in which Infinite performed in, I kind of 'rose to attention' to the voice which had the long 'she's baaaaaaaaaaack' but I didn't know who was the person who sang that. Actually, I didn't know any of the members names back then.

It was not until 'Nothing's Over' that I knew all their names. That was the first time I actually went to look at their faces properly and the one who caught my eye was, coincidentally, none other than Nam Woohyun!

THE FACT THAT HE IS IN INFINITE.

Widely known as the 'in-sync oppas', they can dance better than many of the other idols in the industry.

Definitely one of the most talented groups in the K-Pop industry now, they have made their way into third place on my bias list, next to SHINee and FT Island.

I remember that I started liking them when I saw them 'live' during last year's K-Pop Night and they caught my eye with their sleek dance moves. Not forgetting the catchy tunes like 'Come Back Again'.

Their next comeback was 'BTD (Before the Dawn)' and I really liked that song, although at that time I still could not recognize them because most of their hairstyles were the same, LOL.

Their subsequent singles, Nothing's Over and Can U Smile then put them on my bias list and I fell in love with them even more after they released their first full album recently. The songs in there are too addictive, hehe.

HIS VOICE.

Being one of the two lead vocalists in Infinite, he has an amazing voice totally suited for ballads. I love how he puts his emotions into their live performances. An example is 'Can U Smile' - he looks like he is on the verge on tears every time they perform that. Also, listening to his solo song, 'Time', from their full-length album, makes me want to cry every time.

He didn't do as well as he had wanted to because he had a high fever just before this. Despite being sick, he still put up such a great performance. (Going off topic a little, how nice it would be to have people chant my name like the end of the video. Hahahahahaha.)

HIS ~~FAIL~~ AEGYO.

He is not the best at this and he knows it but he still keeps doing it. Talk about being thick-skinned! And I thought having the maknae doing aegyo was enough. I am not going to post any videos of those here for the sake of your sanity. Interestingly though, I feel that I share the trait with him right here. It's true I can't do aegyo, and I try hard. And mostly it just backfires, just that I don't get hit like Woohyun does.

HIS PERSONALITY. (I don't know why but I seem to be able to relate to this part.)
I love his flirty replies to his fans on their UFOTOWN. If it was some random person of course it'd be creepy but fans absolutely love replies like that.

How sweet!

This whore is obviously not shy and he loves showing off! But damn, those abs! Where has chubby Woohyun gone to? Looks like he has been working out for his many many wives. Hahaha.

He is always the life of the party and also the group's happy pill. I consider myself the crazy one among my friends and I always do stupid things too so I can totally relate to this.

Despite all these acts though, I believe that when he meets his 'special one', he will definitely treat her with lots of respect and sincerity. But then again, that is what every fangirl would think of her idol.

He may seem to be just one of the idols on my never-ending list of biases but he will always be one of those special ones at the top, probably just second to Taemin. I really hope to be able to meet him one day.

4. MS B

MS B is a group formed by myself (lead vocalist), Stef (lead dancer) and Brenda (leader). The name MS B was inspired by the group miss A, and coincidentally, it shows the initials of our names. It started out for fun actually, I think. Then Brenda and I made a mini album for Stef as her birthday present with some of our random covers. So after that we started making covers together like 'Pinocchio' and 'Mr. Taxi', and recently we finished 'Hot Summer' and 'Good-bye Baby' and we are in the midst of a couple of photoshoots and we are going to film a music video soon. Lots of work but all in the name of fun!

Jonathan is our manager and we have two resident stylists - Yiyun and Melodi.

Enough of our profile though, the people in MS B mean more to me than anyone can ever imagine. Besides meeting for weekly dinners, we still do go out on weekends. And at this point of time they are my closest friends. As cheesy as it sounds, I really don't think I can live without them.

Brenda, please do know that even if I always tease you, I'm doing it out of affection alright! Hehe. And as for Stef, well I honestly don't know what else to say because whatever I'd like to say would be repetitive. Oh and though I seem to love Brenda more from my body language I hope you know you're still my no. 1 okay! HAHAHAHA oops. ;P But seriously, I don't know how you put up with my rants and complaints all the time. I rant to you so often that it seems mandatory already. So really, thank you so much for being so patient with me and putting up with my nonsense. I know you feel embarrassed whenever you go out with me though :( But I'm not planning to change. Hahaha.

Of course, not forgetting our manager oppa Jonathan! You are a really great person to spill my guts out to because you are a good listener and yeah 'managing' us three girls must be a handful. You're doing a great job so far! Fighting!!

Anyway, we should continue doing these kind of useless things because it's fun. And the company's great too. Here's hoping MS B will go on for a long long time to come~ 이해리, 호현애! 난널 정말 정말 사랑해! (translation: Lee Hae Ri, Ho Hyun Ae! I really really love you!)

5. Future Taylor and Tyler

This basically refers to my kids in the future. The girl's name will be Taylor and the guy's will be Tyler. I don't know why but I really like these names. I guess it helps that they are names of artistes who I look up to a lot.

All my friends know that I love children and I seem to be able to interact with them without much difficulty. It's either that I'm motherly or that my mental age is the same. Personally, I prefer the latter. Hahaha better to be young than old! :)

I always say that I want to be a cool mum and have cool kids and I do believe that I can do it. I would like an older boy and a younger girl. Maybe it is because of the stereotype that the older brother will take care of a younger sister. Or maybe it is just because I have always been yearning for an older brother. My kids will be musicians and I will train my boy to sing well and play the guitar. Who doesn't like a guy who is able to do these two well? Hehe. My girl will learn the drums and the piano. Two very contrasting instruments but it can show her versatility. A charming boy and an edgy girl - that's the way! And maybe if my other half is also a musician we could form a family band. Omg cool, no??

As much as I love kids though, I can never imagine taking care of one for a long time. Sure I love playing with them but the amount of commitment and effort need to raise a kid is..well let's just say it's something I will never be able to achieve now. Truth be told I don't even know how to carry a baby or toddler properly! And I wouldn't want to employ a nanny to take care of my child or they may become too attached to their caretaker. So many questions and so many problems I can't solve. I guess it'd be a while before I really really really am ready to have kids. Hahahaha I sound as if I'm of the desired age to have children already what the heck.

6. One Thing I Wish Occurred Earlier

This one kind of got me thinking because honestly everything's really great now but if there's really one thing that I have wanted to occur earlier, it would be learning how to play the guitar.

I have always wanted to learn how to play this instrument but it wasn't till I saw Eudora play at Rachel's birthday party last year that I resolved to learn it. I vaguely Shao Liang teaching me the G chord that day, lol.

I bought my guitar, Paul, on the 19th of March last year and I bought my second one, Zack on February 22nd earlier this year.

I have only been playing for about one and a half years so I'm still pretty much of a noob. Well, partly because I find it sufficient to be able to play simple chords and strum so I have an accompaniment to sing to. Learning to sing and play was surprisingly easy but if you give me more complex chords I'd have difficulty. I can't pluck or do any finger styles either although I have been practising on that recently.

If I started learning the guitar earlier, I'd be pretty much good at it now. Just like piano and french horn I guess - even if I don't practise for months I am still able to play and pick it up again really fast. I would also be able to tune my guitar by ear and also play by ear, which are some others things I can do on my other two instruments.

And by now I would have been able to record my own cover with the backing instrumental played by me too! But no that's probably not gonna happen, at least not in the near future.

7. If I Could Change One Thing About Myself

My face. Why am I so ugly!! LOL okay I'm kidding.

Hmm, if I could change one thing about myself, it would be my ego. I'm really short but I have an annoyingly big ego. I can't stand losing to others in stuff that I feel that I'm good in. I can't stand people out-talking me. I can't stand people insulting me, which is really ironic since I was often bullied in Primary School and Secondary School and I probably would have gotten used to it (yes I was a victim of bullying would you believe it pffft I think people were jealous of me being teacher's pet). Calling me competitive is right . Thankfully though, I have never overreacted or anything like that so I guess I still have good sportsmanship.

I still recall in Sec 1, we had this inter-class street soccer competition and naturally I was playing. My team mates were not playing very well (although we did win the first match because of a penalty scored by yours truly) and I was really really frustrated. I think I almost blew, lol. Yeah, I have a bad temper too and I'm really petty too. Recently it has became better though. Maybe it is because there are less irritating people nowadays compared to my younger years.

I suddenly had a realisation about how fast time has passed. Wasn't it just a while that we started our internship? And now in just five weeks it will all be over. Time's passing too fast for my liking.

Sometimes I really wonder what I am doing with my life. Sure, I'm enjoying myself but what's there for me in the future?

But then again, life's meaningless. You come into this world, you live, you die. That's about it. Is it really worth it to slog our asses off? I'm not a person who ponders a lot about the future. As long as I am happy and living in the moment, I don't really care about anything else. But I have a whole life ahead of me, and I really do need lots of money to fund my extravagant music-cum-concert lifestyle LOL. I still wish that I can perform on stage one day. Why do I not know people in the industry??

And of course, the people in my future, if you know what I am talking about. I usually don't talk about these kind of things because I'm really shy about it (hahaha yes seriously I am). Of course I love the people around me right now but throughout one's whole lifetime they'll meet many people and those who were once by your side will leave you eventually. I'd definitely want the people around me to never leave but that's impossible. Ultimately, it's who have made your life meaningful and significant who are the most important, and unforgettable.

So right now I'm just embracing every moment I spend with my loved ones. Just like the photoshoot I had with Stef, Brenda (my MS B members), Jon (our manager oppa), Yiyun and Melodi (our stylists) yesterday at Punggol Promenade. That place is really quite inaccessible LOL but it's a nice place to chill no doubt! I guess I'll post some pics here when I get hold of them!

On another note, I can't wait to go back to school, but I'm dreading the report that we have to submit when school resumes. I can't believe we are only having a three week break! But then again there are so many people who I have not seen in ages and I can't wait for everyone to hang out together again! And yes, school food. I miss school food. Cheap and yummy. And no more one hour bus rides from Chai Chee to Hougang.

Right now I'm really happy though. SHINee in 12 days, 25 days to GD&TOP and Seungri at F1, DBS Black Top Party comin' up right after that, and slightly more than a week after that is freakin' All Time Low!! In addition, Man Utd scored a shitload of goals against Arsenal resulting in a scoreline of 8-2, Real Madrid started off a great season by beating Zaragoza 6-0, and I'm pwning every other football team in my FIFA 2011. What's more, it's a public holiday tomorrow. Basically I'm just enjoying myself to the max and I hope everyone is too!!

I have no idea what has been wrong with me this week. I guess all the screwed up things that have been happening has taken a toll on my mood. I've never felt like this in a long time and sometimes I feel like crying for no reason. I think I am really really tired. Tired of drama, tired of people, actually. I could go seek company in animals, but no I can't because I'm scared of them. I do try to cheer myself up by watching videos of my favourite artistes.

Yeah it does make me smile - for a while. After that I'm just back to being downcast again. I hate being sad. I hate to show my friends that I'm upset but sometimes I just can't help myself. I'm so tired of putting on a happy front even though I am all agonized inside. I guess it's true that seemingly happy people are actually the not the happiest. I try to stay positive but the negativity surrounding me engulfs me.

I have no idea what I am doing now, what I have been doing, and what I am gonna do with my life. I don't even know why I'm typing all these. I'm so messed up. Urgh.

I guess I'll try not to think so much and just look forward to SHINee World Concert (10th Sept) and GD&TOP, Seungri in F1 (23rd Sept). I hope I don't feel like that anymore.

You know how planning for a holiday is supposed to be a happy and exciting affair and all? Yeah I felt that when my mum said we were going to Korea. Then I became less enthusiastic when she said Korea was too expensive so we were going to Shanghai instead. Seriously, we just went to China last year. And I just found out that the trip was gonna be 9 freaking days long and I immediately told her I couldn't go because I am really really scared that next sem's gonna be crazy and I'll have a shitload of stuff to do during the miserable 2 week holiday in December. And in all honesty I really don't want to go to places with four seasons during winter because there is nothing to buy! Most of the clothes that are sold at that time are all winter clothing and what I want to buy are graphic tees. Like those from Dicuny Korea.

Well I'd be lying if I said I am not in the least bit upset. My mood hasn't been all that good today. Sorry to those people I went out with today I don't know what got into me.

Yeah yeah I know I sound like a freakin' spoilt brat blah blah blah yes whatever fuck this shit k bye.

Don't Let Me Go

Just thought I'd get this off my chest.

If there's one thing I hate, it is losing friends. Let me just quote something from Wikipedia:

Although I admit that I've never been able to truly fulfill a couple of the above, I still do try my best in being a good friend. I may not be the best but I strive to be. And I try to treat all my friends really well. Whether I've succeed, I don't know. But what I know is that I am really happy with the people around me right now and I wouldn't want anything to change.

Friendship is just like being in a relationship - it is not gonna work out if it's a one-sided effort. Maybe I should stop investing so much effort in treating people nicely. Why do that when I am not gonna receive the same treatment?

Too many a time, I have seen friends fall out because of them being really tactless, and I guess, not exactly genuine towards the other. I've had that kind of feeling before but I chose not pursue the matter and to hold the friendship together. It's getting tiring though, and I'm sick of being the 'understanding' party.

The most important aspect in my life right now (and probably for a long time to come) are the people around me. And I don't want anything to change.

On Tuesday Stef and I were trying to find them but no they didn't appear. Bummer. Finally saw them on Wednesday but I didn't manage to pass my gift and fan letter to Baro. Uh well, new cap for me! And we also ate at Sarang at Orchard Central and I really enjoyed the food there! Definitely would like to go there again ^^

Anyway, when they stopped by at T2 specially to bid their fans goodbye (so sweet) they all looked pretty upset but I guess most of it was caused by fatigue too. Of course the rowdiness of fangirls contributed (a lot of things happened when they were in USS). When will fans ever learn, I wonder.

Just listen to the fangirls bawling their lungs out, omg. It is quite disturbing to be honest.

That aside, I am happy to have been able to interact with two of the members in this rookie group whose members were lovable, sincere and polite. Fan-service kings, they really are. O.K. is totally on replay now and I never seem to get sick of it, and Only Learned Bad Things.

I do hope to see them again! And they are definitely five boys who I will never forget. Thank you B1A4 for everything. I'm glad their popularity is soaring. All the best, boys! :)

Spent my weekend with my favourite people at KBox on Saturday. Cee Lo Green's F*ck You is really a nice song to end the session with! Sorry Stef!

We were also on the topic of fanfics and sometimes it does get me wondering how do people actually think of stuff like that and write about their idols and not see them in a different light. I think I'd like to try writing a fanfic one day, but I will refrain from anything NC-17 or above. I reckon it'll turn out to be pretty bad compared to those I have read though.

Sunday was praying day but I got to play with my nieces omg they are so cute! I really love children!!

Let's Fly!

Today was probably one of the most exciting Sundays I ever had. So basically the whole day went by with Brenda, Stef and I spazzing about B1A4! Along with Jon, and many many many BANAs (the fanclub name), we welcomed them at the airport. It was kinda chaotic, but we managed to see them! They were just looking at the fans on my side of the barricade so I felt a little sad for the fans on the other side of the barricade :/

So after seeing them we headed to Marina Bay Sands because we got wind that they were gonna be dining at a restaurant called Todai and after surveying the area we found a nice spot to chill at but at the same time easy to catch them. And so when they reached we were just walking beside them (with a couple of security guards in between but no matter). I tried to get Baro to sign my poster but the security blocked me. And he gave me an apologetic look. Haha he is really cute! ♥ And Brenda took a couple of really awesome pictures:

After that when Brenda and Jon left, Stef and I managed to catch them again and this time Gongchan talked to us! He said a simple 'thank you' but when coupled with his eye smile it was $#*@#%!!! He was so nice. But okay it scares me a little to know that he is younger than I am.. :/

Anyway, point is, I had lots of fun, and I have found a new bias in B1A4, and Baro! Thank you so much Jon and Brenda, and most importantly, Stef, for no fangirl experience is complete without you! Hehehe.

Sometimes I just find it so difficult to convey my thoughts to others for fear of them judging me or that I will offend them unintentionally. I don't know how to make bad things sound as nice as possible. And it definitely does not help that all I'm good at is spouting childish stupid jokes. It's not that I want the whole world to know what's on my mind or anything but sometimes I just need someone who I can speak to, who can just listen to me and not judge me or anything because it hurts so much inside. But at the same time I feel so burdened by these thoughts that people will start to dislike me and all so I prefer to keep my mouth shut. Is there really no one who I feel comfortable enough with to spill everything to?

Summer Paradise

Just got an offer for a day's chilling at Palau Ubin from Deal.sg and I am really excited! Kayaking + fish spa + (I have no idea what else) for just $16.80! I'm quite nonchalant about the fish spa part though. I'm not a big fan of animals, you see. But I'm really looking forward to Lagoon Kayaking! And I want to capsize too. Yes I know it sounds ironic coming from a person who does not know how to swim.

Yknow I never had such a versatile group of friends. Whatever I want to do, there is definitely someone to do it with - be it sports, LAN, singing, you name it! I guess it is partly because it is a big group too. Still I do realise it's these few people I hang out with all the time. Clique within clique. Hahaha.

In other news, 2NE1's "Ugly" music video was released yesterday! I love the song - it sends out a positive message and the girls still look flawless and badass (as always)!

I love all their tops. Hehe.

Can't wait to finish learning the song and record it with Rach! Hopefully our next recording session will be more fruitful than the last one.

On a heavier note, there have been major tragedies and disasters happening around the world. Like the attacks in Oslo, and the floods in China, Korea, etc. I find it so fortunate that we are still able to do things that we want to do and our greatest worry everyday is probably what to eat for lunch. In our safe little havens here in Singapore, we seem to take everything for granted and we will not know how it feels like to lose something/someone we cherish until it really happens. And who is there to say that it will not happen? Singapore's still one of the top targets for terrorist attacks and although our security is tight and all it doesn't mean that we are not at risk. Who knows, the next place we go to may be smogged with poisonous gases or have a bomb planted there by an insane man.

As the credits rolled, a sensation that I have never felt before while watching a movie swept over me. It was like my heart was breaking and I couldn't believe I stuck with the series for ten years. After all, my childhood was Harry Potter (and Pokemon, hahaha).

One thing I really love about this series was that the main cast never changed. And just like us, they grew up with Harry Potter, except they were part of the amazing experience. Sigh, the things I would do to be part of the cast.. I don't even mind if I'm the screaming girl in Deathly Hallows Part 2.

The only qualm I have is that they didn't show the scene of Fred, Tonks and Remus dying. Not being sadistic or anything but I feel that it would have made a greater impact. After all, Fred and Remus are part of my favourites in the film and I felt it didn't do them much justice. Still, I cried upon the demise of these characters - including Snape, following Dobby's death in Part 1 (I bawled my lungs out all right? Silently at least).

This is no doubt the most amazing series ever. As with many other adaptations, the books are still way better in terms of being able to convey emotions and it also explains more than the films, although I still haven't read the last book. Hahaha I fail as a Potterhead.

Not all films are perfect, As seen on Tumblr and on the web, there are a considerable amount of mistakes in shooting the film like Lily's young self's eyes not being the same as Harry's (lol 'you have your mother's eyes') but the story is just flawless. Somehow it may seem a tad complicated and you would want to go take the effort to find out about them (like horcruxes, the prophecy, why Voldemort couldn't kill Harry with the Elder Wand, etc etc) which is in actual fact not difficult to understand at all even if you don't read the books since I understood everything fully though I didn't read the last book.

From the Sorcerer's Stone to the Deathly Hallows, the series has had a total of four directors and four soundtrack composers. I've always like the works of Chris Columbus and John Williams a bit more than the rest and I would have liked them to continue directing and writing the songs for the whole series, but of the rest of them did an awesome job too.

I think the thing I will miss most about this is the anticipation of waiting for the release of the book/movie and all the geeking out. To my generation, Harry Potter will always be more than a series of films and for me, it takes up a significant part of my childhood - from reciting lines from the films to pretending to do spells. And not forgetting Quidditch. I'd totally be a sick chaser and I'd totally love to have a Firebolt of my own. And how cool would it be to be in Dumbledore's Army? And of course the Order!

Haha I totally feel like I need another Harry Potter movie marathon and I totally need to watch Deathly Hallows Part 1 again. I'm still wondering when my Hogwarts letter will come or maybe what I need to do is find a small little room under some staircase and stay there for a while.

Such A Beautiful Night

Spent yesterday night with the Poly gang in town and though it was just a simple meet up I definitely had fun! It amazes me sometimes how I can hang out with the same people every single time but I never ever get sick of them and I'm always having the time of my life.

From drinking hard liquor and having great pizza to some awesome ice cream at Cold Stone Creamery and talking about really weird stuff like the human body anatomy (plus some things which personally would prefer not to reveal), these people are no doubt the group that I am most happy with and I wish that they can stay in my life for a long time to come. :)

Speaking of which, we were all complaining how fat and unfit we are so guys we should have a gym/badminton session soon. But well it's always all talk and no action. Before you know it you'll see us at Chomp Chomp stuffing our sorry fat selfs with food. Sigh. I really want to get a Gold for my NAPFA even though I don't need it. I can't bear to break my streak!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 with my favourite girl later! I'm am beyond excited. My next post will be a geeky Harry Potter post. No one's complaining, right?

I don't really have anything to type but I just felt like blogging. Going to send this envelope to Teens Mag tomorrow and I hope I win B1A4 showcase tickets!

Seriously they are damn cool and they definitely caught my eye with O.K! I love how they are so vibrant and they are slowly inching up my list of group biases. Heh.

One rookie group that has made its way to third of my group bias list is Infinite, just after FT Island and SHINee! The members have really shown their versatility and that they can take on different styles. They've no doubt also proven that can sing and of course, their forte, dance really really well.

Haha I just totally spammed videos but point is I really can't wait for their full-length album!

It sounds great! I am really glad that all 10 songs are new ones and are not re-used from their previous mini albums/singles. Woo Hyun's solo - it suits him so much! Infinite fighting!!

The past two days have been nothing short of exciting.

Friday was Korean Music Wave which featured 10 bands - Big Bang, 2NE1, FT Island, Miss A, Teen Top, U-Kiss, X-5, The Boss, Touch, Dal Shabet. I wasn't planning to go for it originally but Stef and I got last minute tickets and I gotta admit that it was money well-spent. Comparing it to K-Pop Night last year, this one was so much better, in terms of venue and the sound system. And of course it healed the pain in my heart because I was really sore about not being able to see FT Island. Heh :$

The line-up was awesome too! It was totally like a 2NE1/Big Bang concert in the end! I'd say that I enjoyed myself.

Yeah so FT Island was the first band to perform, which was totally expected since before the concert even started, Jonghun's acoustic guitar was already on stage. They performed 'Love Love Love', 'Hello Hello', 'Bing Bing Bing' and my favourite 'I Hope (Barae)'! I was kind of expecting them to sing a couple of songs from their new mini album though. It would have been awesome if they had sung 'I Confess', after all, that is Stef's and my song. Hurhur. When they sung 'Barae' it was total deja vu all over again because I screamed at the intro of the song. Except this time I learned the fan chant LOL the Primadonna beside didn't do the fanchant pfft I felt like a loser. But no worries because the next time they come, I'm gonna have my Pentastick with me.

2NE1 rocking the stage!

Starting off with 'Fire', they got the audience singing along with them. Wasn't difficult at all seeing that the lyrics were, 'eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh' LOL. 'Lonely' was so awesome and I found Dara totally charming while she sang her parts although they were really minimal compared to the rest. 'I Am the Best' no doubt pumped up the crowd and I was just screaming my lungs out for the fanchant. They also performed 'I Don't Care' and 'Can't Nobody' but I was totally expecting 'Go Away' and 'Clap Your Hands'. Bummer. Hahaha.

Stef was so pumped during 'Strong Baby'. I don't blame her though! He put up an amazing performance! In the words of him, 'Awesome! Cool! And.....Awesome!' Adorable max.

I totally enjoyed his performance of 'I'll Be There' and 'Where U At'. I wanted 'Wedding Dress' and 'I Need A Girl' (a surprise appearance from Dara would have gotten me crazy) though! Still, his sleek dance moves and his smooth voice had me drowning in his awesomeness and it justified why he was the first K-Pop artist to have caught my eye in the very first place. Hahaha I'm trying to sound as un-fangirly as possible here.

G-Dragon!

TOP! Should have followed him club-hopping heh.

GD&TOP definitely did rock the house and when they kicked off their segment with 'Knock Out' it definitely got me singing (chanting/rapping) along. Proceeding with 'Oh Yeah' and 'High High', they brought the atmosphere at the Indoor Stadium to an all time high!

Big Bang as a whole, without Daesung unfortunately, performed 'Tonight', 'Love Song' and 'Hands Up'. His presence was obviously missed though, especially when Seungri sang his parts. Haha poor boy I know you did your best!

'Tonight' was basically flawless and although my heart broke at the sight of G-Dragon smashing the guitar I must admit that it was well..really cool, and awesome! Heh.

The beginning of 'Love Song' was a tad off though. TOP couldn't reach his low notes LOL too much rapping and shouting before that I reckon! But the rest of the song was just, beyond words. Well just one look at the reaction of the person beside me and you'd know. :P

I wasn't particularly high or overly-excited when FT Island performed though. And I attribute it to the fact that I was too far away and since they were the first act I wasn't pumped yet. And they weren't playing their instruments live, which I was pretty upset about to be honest.

Still, I'm really glad I got to hear 'Hello Hello', 'Barae' (again), '0330', 'Syo Hajima' and 'Love Song' live - all of which are on my favourites list heh.

I'd like to say a huge thank you to all the performers! Thank you for putting up such wonderful performances and I thoroughly enjoyed the full 3.5 hours. Thank you very much, Stef, for asking me to go with you, and of course for the company! I really would have regretted so so much if I didn't go! Also, thank you to Jiaqi for helping us get the tickets!

And Stef, although our stalking plans totally failed, trust me, one day we will be able to catch whoever we wanna stalk. Haha but for now, B1A4 from the airport on 7th August! And we can do the same for SHINee in September!

The next day we were on a mission to assist perfectionist Eden plan for Dee's 19th birthday! Well I guess it was a success and luckily we didn't miss the fireworks. It felt so awesome watching fireworks from the 58th storey of Swissotel The Stamford with my favourite people.

I definitely had fun including a bathroom photo shoot with the girls.

Speaking of birthdays, it is already 18th July in KST so I definitely gotta dedicate a birthday post to my favourite maknae, Lee Taemin!

I have to admit, just like any other human being, I was superficial and started liking you because of your look in Lucifer, you were really... *breathes in* ...hot. Hahaha. And you were one of the main reasons why I actually started taking notice of SHINee.

You are no doubt one of the most adorable idols I know. You are a crazy dance machine, you can play the piano, and your singing has improved tremendously from your debut days.

You are really dorky sometimes. You say you want to be seen as a more 'manly' person, but you always use your aegyo for every situation that calls for it. Although you are now legal, in my heart, you will never stop being the child that you are.

How can you not love him? His vocals may not be the best around but look at the amount of effort he puts in! And his random ad-libs. Hahaha.

Taemin, watching and hearing you laugh totally makes my day. So, please stay happy forever!

Just A Dream

You know you have friends who understand you when you can rant off about something that they can't really relate to and they still listen to you.

As you guys probably know, I have always been a music junkie and I do pride myself in being able to play multiple instruments, although not very well.

Just like many other kids, I started my 'music journey' with piano. Contrary to most of them who quit because of stress of piano exams and loss of interest, I was actually very enthusiastic in this aspect. Looking at my standard of piano when I was really young, I was actually really really good and I'm not trying to be a show-off here. I still remember before my parents bought a real piano for I had to use this small keyboard which didn't even have all the 88 keys. So naturally I was ecstatic when I came home one day and I saw the piano there and of course I started practising like crazy.

Of course, it wasn't fated to last. When pop music started coming into my life and I started collecting pop music piano sheets, I started to find the usual piano and classical music really boring. And of course after that I could never put my heart into practising the pieces for piano exams so eventually I stopped at Grade 5, which is really stupid because that grade was a stepping stone away from the 'basics', as with for my music theory education.

I guess I wasn't persistent enough, which was foolish because if I had continued, I would have already gotten a diploma by now, qualified to teach.

Now whenever I touch the piano, I only find myself playing my renditions of pop music, it isn't a bad thing, but I feel my skills slowly going away.

My band life on the other hand, is slightly different. I can safely say that I have always been in top-notch condition for any instrument I held during the respective times, be it the Alto Horn, Trumpet and French Horn. Of course I struggled a little during Sec 1 when I first held the French Horn because after all, it is the most difficult brass instrument. But naturally I picked up really fast.

I have always found satisfaction playing instruments and playing in the band was no exception, especially when there are really nice melodies and crazy counter-melodies that French hornists always get. However I don't deny that I get sick of it sometimes. There were even a couple of times that I was sick of playing the guitar, or surprisingly, singing.

There is one thing that has never made me sick of doing it though, probably because I don't have much of an opportunity to do, but I really enjoy it as well. And that is conducting. I conducted my band once in Primary 4 for Speech Day and although I was quite intimidated, I thoroughly enjoyed it and the sense of satisfaction is just, wow. So from then on, whenever I had the chance to conduct, I'd immediately volunteer myself. Not that anyone else minded too.

And in Secondary School I was given the post Librarian but that didn't stop the band masters from putting me on the podium. Whenever the Student Conductor wasn't in, I'd be on there, and I'd be really happy.
There was once where the Sec 2s couldn't go for cohort camp and stayed in school for band practices instead (that's sad), and the Sec 4s were having truncated lessons. Whenever I had a break, the Sec 2s would be just starting practice and I'd head there every time offering to take warm ups and the bandmaster would gladly oblige.

Now (or a few months back) in Poly I'm just too scared to conduct although I had the authority to because there are far too many better players and more musical people than me. And that is really sad.

I have not played the French Horn for a considerable long time so I really hope I don't lose my skills because I'm slowly losing skill in everything else and the only thing of me that's improving is my singing and I feel like a piece of useless junk.

Not gonna lie, not a single day goes by without me imagining myself having a career in music and I still wanna be able to perform something that I like on stage. I truly love performing. I love the feeling of standing on stage and showing others what I can do but out of the countless times that I have been on stage I have never been able to perform something 'cool' and something that I really wanna show everyone (notably singing). And I would have joined competitions if I weren't so insecure about myself.

Up till now I still wonder if my decision to reject my dad's offer to send me to NAFA was right. Of course it would have been easier to fulfil my 'dream' if I was there but the competition there is crazy, and I would probably not be having as much fun as I am now. (I have this stereotype that established classical musicians are generally stuck up ._.)

On the bright side I would not have been able to meet this group of friends that are more precious to me than they can ever imagine, even if I don't show it, even if they annoy me sometimes, even if I get upset at them sometimes, but hey, no one said people who love you will never hurt you.

And the current Michy is one who has never been happier :)

Terrible Things

I am so bored at work now.

Recently got Mayday Parade's EP, Valdosta and I am totally in love with this song. I can't relate to this song in any way but it still makes me cry.

The song is a dad narrating to his son about his life story and hoping that his son doesn't go through the same pain that he did.

I really wanna learn this song on piano. Found a piano tutorial on Youtube and I'm gonna master it...When I have the time to. There is just something about songs based heavily on piano that makes me wanna listen to them over and over again.

Seriously there are so many touching and meaningful songs but the songs that are well-known and mainstream are all just so trashy. It's the same for almost every language sadly. Maybe not C-Pop though, I still hear lots of ballads on charts, which is a really great thing. :)

On a brighter note, SHINee World Concert in Singapore has finally been confirmed! 10th Sept, here I come ^^

And I can't believe that FT Island is gonna be performing at the Indoor Stadium on Friday and I'm not going. Sigh, I really wanna see them rock the stadium with Hello Hello and if they play I Confess I'm gonna kill myself.

The past couple of days were totally filled with activities which were fun, but really tiring.

There was 'The Sweet Collision' which featured Eyes Set to Kill and Mayday Parade. Wenhui and I went for Mayday Parade.

Apart from the crazy moshing (honestly, who moshes to Mayday Parade, wtf), it was a good gig. They were so good 'live'! There was a meet-n-greet session after that to take pics and get autographs but we were too tired to wait for them anymore. Wasted, though :/

The next day was the DBS Black Top Party where Jon and I helped Stef out. It wasn't that tiring but it ended quite late. And I was quite high cuz I gulped down one whole glass of drink, but hey, that's the thrill of drinking. :)

It was held at the New Asia bar atop Swissotel The Stamford. And guests had access to the rooftop which was actually a helicopter landing pad. It was really cool. I thought I could only see helipads in movies.

The view of the skyscrapers and city scape from up there was amazing. My camera doesn't do it justice at all. Wish I had a DSLR with me.

Not long ago, one of my close friends told me something that happened to one of the people I respect a lot. Whatever she told me were just rumours though and I sincerely hope that they are not true. It is too difficult for me to believe that someone whom I could always seek help from, whom I could look up too, whom taught me so many things and was an important part of my life for a period of time, would do something like this.

I was slightly shocked, upset, and very very disappointed. And my heart is literally aching now.

I know many things that people spread around via hearsay are not true but sometimes after not being in touch with people, you've got to believe what you hear because it's the closest to the truth since you don't know anything at all.

Nonetheless, I still wish that person good luck in everything. x

Fiction and Fact

This weekend has been uh-ma-zing! Not counting the fact that I spent it with the same people (again), I had so much fun! Well, besides me being sick. :'(

Saturday was Beast's 1st Asia Fanmeet Tour in Singapore! I'm not a huge fan of them but I really dig their music, so I was quite excited!

The event page stated that it was 2 hours and as an audience, I was pleasantly surprised that it actually lasted that long! And they sang quite a number of songs, which was a bonus. I was totally ecstatic to watch them perform 'Fiction'!

They played games with six lucky audience girls and as expected, there were totally butthurt fans hating on those who got to go up. There was a girl behind us who kept cursing the girl who got picked by Yoseob. Hello get a life girl why you hatin'? No matter, some pics next!

It still was really fun though. But concert ushers are just always seem intent on spoiling our concert experiences they really should just chill.

Went to the airport for dinner (and acted like kids) after that and we found out that Beast was actually leaving Singapore that night cuz we saw some B2utys there so we decided to wait for them just for the thrill of it but in the end Brenda and Mel had to go so only Stef and I were left.

12.03am. Omg seriously, I look so tired!

We didn't get to see them in the end though but it was fun while it lasted! I am definitely gonna do it again. Maybe next week, when FT Island comes? :P

Sunday was a private screening of Transformers 3, courtesy of Mel's dad!

The film wasn't fantastic. Transformers 2 was better. But I wasn't expecting the betrayal of Sentinel so that pulled the score up a bit.

But one thing's for sure after watching this third instalment -- I REALLY LOVE BUMBLEBEE. I remember the first time I watched Transformers, I fell in love with the Camaro Chevy instantly. Too sexy!

Goshh the things I would do just to drive this car.

Of course, the other Autobot that I definitely couldn't miss (it's red), is Mirage - a sleek Ferrari 458 Italia. It looks so sleek in robot form too!

And true to it's name, Mirage in there has an Italian accent. Mi piace ;)

Oh wow what a fangirly and geeky post. Don't get me wrong though I'm not obsessed with automobiles I just like gawking at them and hoping one day I'd get to at least ride in one of them. I don't even ask for a Lamborghini. I just wanna get into a Bumblebee Chevy and pretend to be Sam Witwicky. I'm such a kid. Heh.

Don't ask me why I'm blogging during work - there's just basically nothing for me to do now. I'm just stuck here quality checking some Canto oldies album and watching the fruitless drying of my soaked socks and shoes. Life is great.

But definitely not better than the past weekend! Met up with my TK Horns on Saturday for a day of splurging (which I kinda regretted); Domino's Pizza, bowling, dinner at Manhattan Fish Market, and pool to end the day. Livin' the life, guys.

I should wear skinnies and my Dr. Marts together more often. They make my legs look long heheh.

Mad moves, yo.

Sunday was (finally) an outing with my Poly mates and I swear these guys never fail to make me laugh. Just Dance 2 + surround sound + dimsum + great company = everything else is irrelevant.

Next week's gonna be a really eventful one - Mayday Parade with Wenhui, DBS Black Top Party with Stef and Jon, Harry Potter movie marathon, The Big Groove. Crazily packed.

I just watched the whole All Time Low Straight to DVD and homygawd they are one of the best punk bands around now no kidding.

Freaking amazing I love them so much. Seeing them live on day will be one of the greatest days of my life.

Speaking of All Time Low, happy 23rd birthday to you Jack Barakat! :) Keep being crazy on stage you are awesome! I will never understand how you can jump around like that without tearing your skinnies.

I booked my tickets for Mayday Parade's gig in Singapore! I'm going with Wenhui and this makes it her first rock band concert (virgin concert stealer strikes again). There's another band performing too called Eyes Set to Kill which is fronted by a female and they are a rock/emo band. I hope my ears don't burst. I just wish the tickets were cheaper though. Mayday Parade in Indonesia's ticket prices are like, 10bucks.

For those who don't know Mayday Parade they are the singers of Miserable At Best which is an amazing song

The guy who has the lower voice has left the band but it hasn't affected the band much. They released another album Anywhere But Here which is a pretty solid album as well too. They also just released an EP (which I haven't listened to yet) and a third album's coming out soon too. I really wanna buy their CDs but the last time I checked HMV they were going for like 38bucks/42bucks. What the heck.

Oh yeah, do check out DJ Masa's K-Pop Till the world Ends Mashup for the first half of 2011!

If you click the 'CC' button you can see that Stef and I did the Chinese translations. Hahaha it's quite funny watching the video with the captions. It's an awesome mash-up although I would have liked it better if Infinite was inside. :P Oh I still prefer the mash-up he did for last year's second half though! Can't wait for the next one!~

And speaking of Chinese, happy 30th birthday to Ella Chen from S.H.E!

She was my very first idol for obvious reasons. She was the most charismatic member of S.H.E and I totally aspired to be like her. She can sing, dance, act, host, she has a great personality to match too. My colleague was telling me that when he interviewed them, she was the only one to turn back to bid them goodbye. I love how sincere she is to people around her, including fans. I went for two S.H.E autograph sessions and her handshakes are always the firmest, even though her arm was injured once. Major love for this girl!
